A Family-Led Team With Deep Himalayan Roots
Traverse Treks Nepal is built on the strength and trust of a family led team. Founded and led by Arjun Kumar Magar, the company is shaped by four brothers whose shared experience and lifelong connection to the Himalayas define the way we work. Our guides, Sherpas, and support crew have spent decades trekking together across Nepal’s most spectacular regions, developing a level of coordination, reliability, and mutual understanding that only comes from years in the mountains. This deep bond, combined with an unwavering commitment to safety and client care, has earned our team an esteemed reputation throughout the trekking community.
Arjun Kumar Magar
Arjun Kumar Magar has been immersed in the trekking world for over thirty years. Born in Dhankuta, Nepal, he journeyed alone to Kathmandu at the age of 17 to pursue work in an industry he had long admired through the paths of his friends. His early years were spent trekking as a porter and working as a kitchen assistant, before advancing in 2000 to become a licensed Trekking Guide through formal training from the Nepal Government Tourism Board. With over twenty-five years of guiding experience, Arjun is now a highly respected leader in trekking and tour operations across Nepal and beyond.
Since 2008, Arjun has also spent extended periods in England, where he refined his English language and immersed himself in British culture. He travelled extensively, exploring Yorkshire, the Lake District, and London. His journey is one of resilience and growth - marked by leading groups throughout Nepal and it’s iconic regions, plus, trekking in Europe, including the Chamonix region of France.

Responsible travel is a way of exploring the world that respects the places you visit, the people who live there, and the natural environments you move through. It’s about travelling with awareness - making choices that protect cultures, support local communities, and minimise your impact on fragile landscapes. We believe travel should uplift and not exploit the places we explore. That’s why your trek with Traverse Treks Nepal supports:
• Ethical Employment: Fair wages, suitable equipment, and insurance for guides and porters.
• Local Ownership: We partner with local owned and run teahouses, lodges, and vendors across the region.
• Eco-Friendly Lodging: We partner with teahouses and accommodations that follow sustainable practices.
• Local Empowerment: We hire local guides and porters, support village economies, and promote cultural e xchange.
• Low-Impact Trekking: Carefully planned routes and group sizes to reduce trail erosion and wildlife disruption.
•Environmental Responsibility: Biodegradable supplies, water bottles to reduce plastic use, and ongoing trail clean-ups.
• Cultural Respect: We ensure proper etiquette at sacred sites and promote cross-cultural understanding at every step.
• Trek with purpose, following Leave No Trace* principles and supporting our porter welfare programs.
*Leave No Trace: All waste is packed out or properly disposed of.
It’s not about perfection - it’s about intention. Travelling responsibly means recognising that your journey is part of a much bigger story, and choosing to make your impact a positive one. By choosing us, you’re helping protect the Himalayas; your journey supports cleaner trails, stronger communities, and a Nepal that thrives for generations to come.
